BStV fetches “very wicked” defender

Eintracht Braunschweig presented the first new addition to the upcoming season. There is reinforcement for the defensive.
The deal is fixed: Eintracht Braunschweig is increasing for the coming season with defender Lukas Frenkert. The 24-year-old comes free of charge from second division competitor Prussia Münster, as the BTSV announced on Sunday. His contract in Münster had not been extended in the club after ten years. In Braunschweig, he signed a contract by 2027 with the option for extension.
The BTSV is convinced of the obligation. It is the first external summer newcomer for Eintracht. Sports Managing Director Benjamin Kessel raves: “We are very happy that we were able to convince a very courted central defender from our way with Lukas. Lukas can play all positions in defense, is both footprints, brings qualities in the game structure and header strength.”
In the past season, Frenkert had played 26 competitive games for Münster and contributed three goals and two templates. With his team he managed to stay in the 2nd Bundesliga – before the harmony.
Frenkert had already run through the youth teams in Münster and had been played with short interruptions by borrowing to the second team of Schalke 04 (2021/22) and 1. FC Bocholt (2023/24) for the Prussians. He stands for the Prussian path “in which talents are promoted from their own offspring in the long term,” the club writes to its farewell. “This common section ends after more than 10 years.”
Frenkert itself is looking forward to his new challenge in Braunschweig. “I heard a lot of positive things about the club in advance and experienced a very large appreciation of those responsible,” he says. “That gave me a very good feeling from the start.”
