Six goalkeepers are currently part of the Chelsea squad in the next season, but the blues apparently plan to hire the next keeper. According to Transfer Reporter Fabrizio Romano, the Londoners of AC Milan have made an offer for Mike Maignan. Accordingly, Chelsea wants to have clarity until the end of the transfer window in front of the club World Cup on Tuesday. However, the editorial team of journalist Gianluca di Marzio heard on Sunday that the first offer was rejected by the Italians.

The first proposal for a transfer from the French national goalkeeper is said to be 15 million euros and would therefore be below the market value of 25 million euros and the total that Milan had paid for the services of the 29-year-old in 2021. However, Maignans’s contract will expire in the coming summer, so it can only be achieved in the coming weeks and months. According to the “BBC”, the Italians demand 30 million euros for their goalkeeper. Di Marzio now says that £ 20 million, around 24 million euros, could also be sufficient.
If the deal goes over the stage, Maignan would be the ninth replacement new addition to the goalkeeper position since 2018/19 with the blues. Since then, almost 200 million euros have flowed for new keepers, including 80 million euros for the still most expensive goalkeeper in the world, Kepa Arrizabalaga. However, the Spaniard could not meet the expectations, which is why Edouard Mendy was hired two years later for 24 million euros. But the Senegalese could not really establish itself as number 1, so three other goalkeepers were committed to Gabriel Slonina, Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sánchez over the next three years.
