MTV’s presenter Mikko Suursalmi injured in May at the Motorcross Games in Rauma.

Suursalmi tells Iltalehti that he last driven motorcross more than 30 years ago, but his friend had renovated their old bikes so they could participate in the competition.

Suursalmi injury took place during the Classic Motocross’s first race.

– In a really harmless situation, my feet just hit the ground and twisted. After that, there was a little feeling on the knee and I thought something happened now. I drove to the end of the round, led the bike to the depot, lifted the buck and tried my knee. My first thought was that it probably didn’t go bad, he says.

Suursalmi did not feel pain and thought he could participate in the first round of the competition. Then his knee began to swell. At that time, it became clear that Suursalmi would skip the race and head back to the Helsinki metropolitan area.

The presenter reserved time for a knee tortoped. Magnetic images revealed that Suursalmi’s front crossing had broken.

“It was a sad bend to this return of this motorcross career, but maybe sometimes you can try it again,” he says.

This is Suursalmi’s first knee injury. As a result, the injury was surprisingly difficult for him to accept.

– I have never had any problem with my knees, and I have never had anything bigger in my adult life. That is, I haven’t had any point of comparison, so kind of such an unknown thing scared. The fact that this really means, the man describes.

“But in itself, this does not mean anything other than rehabilitation and a little calmer,” he says.

According to Suursalmi, he is able to walk with knee support, as long as you take steps a little more cautiously. The presenter says he had visited Tuesday, May 27, as he still had swelling in his knee.

– No decision has yet been made to operate or not. At the beginning of July, a decision will be made and it will be considered whether the swelling has fallen. The swelling keeps the knee in place naturally, so it is not yet known where it comes from, Suursalmi explains.

– In such injuries, the operation can be performed even nine months after the surgery, so that surgery itself is not in a hurry, he continues.

According to Suursalmi, the situation will affect his summer vacation, at least so that sports are less.

– Participation in the Classic Motorcross Cup is over this summer and I can’t play hockey. But hopefully I will be able to play golf soon, says the presenter with a little amused.

– I hope I can do the things we would have done anyway with my family. But this knee itself does not affect when I can walk a little. With dog loops, I go a little slower and play with my kids a little calmer, he adds.

Silvennoinen says he has received mostly chanting messages on social media. However, some have also told the presenter that “this is what an old man goes to do such hobbies.” He wants to send greetings to those people that such accidents can happen anywhere else.

– I’ve been in much more dangerous situations on weekdays. For example, the ankle can break when you walk down the stairs. This was such a harmless situation, says the presenter.
