BESOX Handball club Izegem dropped from the highest class of the handball a year ago. And also had a difficult start of this season. But the West Flemings straightened out and won no fewer than nine of their ten games in the play-offs.

“The start of the season was difficult and then I had to formulate the goal to the play-offs in a starting position as favorable as possible. In the end, everyone also knows that we are just as tough as Lebbeke, but the mind was good and we were clearly focused on the goal we wanted to achieve in the play-offs,” said trainer Frank Platteuw.

And that goal was the title in the first national. Last week they achieved it on the field of Houthalen, so the last match was previously a galamatch last night in-house, which Izegem eventually won with 34-32 from Lebbeke. Next year, after a year of absence, Izegem will be the highest class again in the Super Handball League.

“I think we can play a role there again, perhaps even more than in the previous edition in which we participated. So we hope to grab points here and there and to give our home crowd nice handball,” said Platteeuw.
