Galeria appoints Philipp Kretzer as the new Chief Sales Officer.
Kretzer took on his new role in June 1, he announced on Thursday at the LinkedIn career network. He comes from his own ranks of the department store group and has been responsible for the Bavarian and Baden-Württemberg branches in the past three years.
Now he is responsible for the entire sales and the teams of the 83 branches and service center. Felix Burgmeier, who has experience as a retail director Central Europe, takes over his previous position with the Swedish brand Gant and from leading positions from Düsseldorf fashion retailer PEEK & Cloppenburg.
Next change in the management team
“Galeria is at a crucial turning point – between tradition and departure. My goal: consistently the sales of the needs of our customers: align inside, think across channels and develop the full potential of our strong brand,” said Kretzer. “The trade is changing rapidly, but I am convinced that with the right team spirit, a clear strategy and courage to change can make a lot of moving together – and we have that at Galeria!”
According to its own information, the new Chief Sales Officer came to Galeria around three years ago, but was previously active in various positions in the department store group from October 2016 to November 2019, most recently as a store director. Between the end of 2019 and March 2022, he moved to the online mail order company BestSecret Group for almost two and a half years, where he was active as a retail manager. He began his career at Peek & Cloppenburg, where he was active in various tasks around Cologne and Essen for around five years, most recently as Associate Store Manager.
With the appointment of Kretzer, the chair at Galeria continues. Just a month ago, Florian Mellert, Head of Controlling & Treasury, said goodbye to this role after one and a half years. In addition, Managing Director Olivier van Densche has also been released since the end of April, as different media reports, citing an internal letter.
