Pieter V. (43) from Veldhoven does not get a punishment for pushing a 90-year-old man from the bike, who died as a result. The court in Den Bosch ruled on Friday that V. should be dealt with as soon as possible. He is schizophrenic and was then in a psychotic state.
The very elderly man was just pushed off his bike on 3 May last year on the Heemweg in Veldhoven at the City Center. Three days later he died in the hospital. V. pushed the old man, but he doesn’t know anything anymore.
Three witnesses saw him push and then aggressively grab and beat an agent at the neck. The court followed the advice of the experts and did not consider him to be imputable. Because of his psychosis, he was unable to send his behavior on that third May.
Pieter V. had stopped his medication for the fatal push party on 3 May last year. And that decision had very major consequences, because this quickly went downhill with him and he got into a psychosis. Painful for the relatives of the 90-year-old man was that V. was probably not slipped that far with the right care.
The court concluded that the treatment of V. can best be realized within the framework of a care authorization. V. will then be admitted to GGZ Eindhoven for his treatment as soon as possible. The aim is that he can once again function at the level of before his psychosis. As soon as there is room for V. in the clinic, he can get out of the cell. During the hearing it became clear that the mental health care is ready to record him immediately after the court’s decision.
