Although there are no more beguines living there for a long time, the Begijnhof is still inhabited by some Benedictines and around thirty single women. Residents respond enthusiastically to the royal visit.
“We were with five residents who had a conversation with her. She is very interested, very jovial,” says resident Jo Verplaetsen. “She was surprised by what she all discovered. She even said she’s definitely coming back, and that she would also tell her daughter Elisabeth.”
