Three MBO schools with branches in Drenthe and Groningen together receive 18.75 million euros from the government to maintain the educational offer, despite a falling number of students.
That is stated in a letter that Education Minister Eppo Bruins (NSC) has sent to the Lower House.
It is about Alfa College, Noorderpoort and DC Terra. The courses have applied for the subsidy through a joint plan. The money is used in Groningen and Drenthe for, among other things, the development of a joint training portfolio of the MBO schools and the development of a campus ecosystem in Emmen.
The money is intended, among other things, to keep educational locations open in small places, so that students do not have to travel too far to go to MBO. An important condition for Bruins granting the money was that MBO schools in the region collaborate with each other and with regional companies.
In addition to Drenthe and Groningen, the four other regions also receive money to keep the MBO offer up to date: Friesland, Noord-Holland, Zeeland and Achterhoek and Twente.
