Washington (dpa-AFX)-The dispute over Donald Trump’s tax law draws a line under the close relationship of the US president with tech billionaire Elon Musk. “Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will still have that,” Trump said to journalists in the White House. Musk struck back over his online platform X a little later: “Without me, Trump would have lost the choice.” And he added: “Such an ungrateful.”
Musk donated more than $ 250 million for Trump’s election campaign. In addition, he personally campaigned for him in the important state of Pennsylvania. Trump now said that he had won in Pennsylvania without Musk – and seems to have provoked the attack of the tech billionaire.
Taga -length attacks Musk
Musk has been mood against Trump’s tax and expenditure law for days and demands more cost reductions. Meanwhile, Trump suggested that Musk was led by business interests. The tech billionaire is, among other things, the head of the Electric car-Conter Tesla. Trump said Musk had no problem with the law – until he found out that this includes a reduction in billions of billions of subsidies for electric vehicles.
In the past few days, the President has held back on the law despite Musk’s escalating attacks and was asked by journalists for the first time on the controversy at an appointment with Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU).
Musk temporarily became a close confidante of Trump, who commissioned him to cut government spending. At the end of May, Musk withdrew from Washington. When he said goodbye, he referred to a 130-day period for external government employees.
