For many collective ecstasy, the festival season means detachment from everyday life and above all: lots of music. But for some, such an event quickly turns into a nightmare. Nasting, sexual assault and discrimination are unfortunately the reality of some visitors: inside. Rock am Ring wants to counteract this even more decisively this year: with his new “Awareness” program.

NEW: An “Awareness” team on site

“Music. Freedom.” Under this leitmotif, Rock am Ring defines central values ​​for living together on the festival site. The message is clear: intended physical contact requires approval. And discrimination of all kinds – whether racist, sexist, anti -Semitic or due to age, disability, appearance or social status – is not accepted. Anyone who violates this must expect consequences.

For the first time, an “Awareness” team will be present directly on the festival site. It can be recognized by pink west and is visitor: inside as required, be it with discomfort, excessive demands, attacks or if support is otherwise required. The team can be addressed personally or contacted by phone (01523 6161051).

Code words and two “Safer Spaces”

For situations in which no cell phone is available, two code words were introduced: “Where are you going to Panama?” and “awareness”. These can be mentioned on the site to receive help discreetly and without further explanation.

In order to offer visitors: to offer a protected room inside, two so -called “Safer Spaces” were also set up. A retreat on the A2 campsite is available around the clock from Wednesday to Monday. In addition, there are fixed opening times in the Infield on all festival days, in which festival goers: inside find a safe contact point with trained staff.
