Germany missed the Nations League final. And Julian Nagelsmann has to wait for the first title as a national coach. The national coach was served accordingly.
“We gave the game in the first half-even if it was 0-0. Portugal didn’t want to do that much in the first half. We didn’t show so well presence in our own ball. And defensively we did not show the balquet of the last games,” was the short analysis of the national coach at the ZDF microphone.
Nagelsmann was impressed by the term “gallage”. A little later he added: “Today we didn’t have the balom that we have had in the past few months. This has been one of our weakest games for a year and a half.”
However, he did not want to attribute this to a lack of attitude. Nagelsmann replied to a question from ZDF moderator Jochen Breyer: “No, attitude-that’s a very big word. We still had a very good team on the pitch, but the activity was not one hundred percent.”
His team came from halftime and took the lead through Florian Wirtz (48th minute) shortly after the break. “But then we hired the company. And then you can already see – it is only 2: 1, but felt more 3-0 for them. We were also a bit tired,” said the national coach.
Therefore, he now demands from the entire team to question themselves: “We were not at 100 percent in some positions today. We have to answer the ‘Why’ now – everyone for themselves,” said Nagelsmann and did not take off himself and his coaching team.
