Suzan & Freek surprise the country with a fairly hopeful message about the treatment of his metastatic lung cancer. Do the two now return to Ziggo Dome? “Very vulnerable.”
After having been continuously in the Ziggo Dome for three days, Suzan & Freek was shocked last Monday: he was given the announcement that he had metastatic lung cancer. A day later, on Tuesday, they shared the news on Instagram, because they canceled the three Ziggo concerts of the weekend afterwards.
End of year?
Suzan & Freek must announce the news, because you don’t just cancel these kinds of large concerts. They indicated that he might not even get the end of the year: “At the end of this year we hope to welcome our child together. ❤️” “
His life expectancy is in loose, they wrote then. “We will enjoy the time that we have granted together for as long as possible, even if we do not know how long that will be. We therefore stop immediately and lay down all our work.”
More hopeful
Now, a week later, Suzan & Freek have given an update and they sound a lot more hopeful. He started with life -prolonging medication. “There are people who have been able to move forward for several years, so we are holding on to that now!”
The complaints that Freek had, namely a cough and weight loss, are now also a thing of the past. “Since then he feels a lot better physically.”
Still in Ziggo?
Does this mean that Suzan & Freek will still catch up with their three canceled Ziggo Dome concerts? “Would they ever give a concert in the Ziggo Dome, you think, with perhaps one more performance in which they sing a single that is about this period, or do you think that is really ready?”, Says show expert Jordi Versteeg.
Colleague Evert Santegoeds then in the podcast Strictly private: “I can’t estimate it, but they are not talking about it anyway. They will continue to make music and perhaps an album that they focus on it, but a concert in the open air with all the vulnerabilities that entails and tensions of it and tensions of it?”
“I don’t know if it is in it …”
