Carlos Alcaraz has moved into the semi -finals of the French Open completely effortlessly. Opponent Tommy Paul was without any chance.
The Spanish world ranking second needed less than two hours to conquer the American 6-0, 6: 1 and 6: 4. In the round of the last four, Alcaraz now meets the Italian Lorenzo Musetti.
In 2022, Roland Garros Night Sessions were introduced. The audience gets a game to see, only four of more than 50 evening games were played by women.
Short night session for the audience
This once again led to discussions, of which tournament director Amelie Mauresmo was annoyed. Reluctantly, she gave an answer. The men would just play over three winning sets, the audience would see more tennis for a lot of money.
On Tuesday evening, however, the audience should have wanted to attend an exciting three-set match for women than this one-sided game among men.
The tension was completely missing in the first two sets. Defending champion Alcaraz played very powerfully and precisely with his forehand and also had many balls. The first set lasted 31 minutes, the second even 24.
Paul stays without breakball
It was only more open in the third round. However, the 22 -year -old Spaniard never ended up in danger, because Paul did not get any breakball – like in the whole match.
In the end, Alcaraz apologized to the spectators for the short evening: “I’m sorry, but I just had to do my work.“
