With a peat festival against Austria, the DFB women successfully played the last game in front of the European Championship. Above all, four stars, one disappointed.

Kim Steinke reports from Vienna

The German women’s national team has a goal-rich, but not a perfect EM general rehearsal for the upcoming European Championship in July. At the end of the National League group phase, the DFB team won 6-0 against Austria.

All of the six hits were found during a furious first half. Sydney Lohmann opened the goal series after 14 seconds. The Bayern player added another goal in the 39th minute. The other goals in front of only 5,150 spectators in the Franz Horr Stadium scored Lea Schüller (9th minute), Selina Cerci (26th), Klara Bühl (31st) and Laura Freiang (43.) for the Olympic thirds.

Despite the goal -rich half, national coach Christian Wück raged on the sidelines. The reason: The DFB-Elf, especially in the construction game, had several inaccuracies and bad passes, which also opened up some opportunities for the Austrians. The German team was lucky that the hosts all took them unused.

In the second half, the national coach used the clear result, as well as the fact that his team had already made the semi-finals with the 4-0 victory against the Netherlands last Friday to make it hard to change. So the game also became a stage for the players to recommend themselves for the final EM squad.

However, this was not particularly good for the course of the game and the game is increasingly flattening. Slow ball relays from the DFB team and the efforts of the Austrians not to lose even higher brought a rather unsightly second half without goals, even without much chance of scoring.

You can read which player could still use the dress rehearsal for themselves and who remained rather lackluster in the individual criticism in the photo show above or here.
