In search of a new trainer, RB Leipzig is now also dealing with Jacob Neestrup. The Dane, who made FC Copenhagen the Danish cup winner, had previously been traded as a candidate for the Bundesliga competitor VfL Wolfsburg.
According to information from “Kicker” and “Sport Bild”, the former VfL official and current Leipzig sports manager Marcel Schäfer has now contacted the 37-year-old, with whom he is said to have already dealt in his time in Wolfsburg. RB is looking for a successor to interim coach Zsolt Löw. The 46-year-old took over Marco Rose in March and returned to the side of Jürgen Klopp in the global football strategy team from Red Bull after the end of the season.
So far, the Spaniard CESC Fàbregas from the Italian first division team Como 1907 and the Austrian Oliver Glasner from Premier League club Crystal Palace have been the top candidate in Leipzig. However, both are currently not available for the Saxons. Glasner spoke of a 99 percent probability that he would stay in London. Fàbregas, who was also brought into play as the successor to the assigned Inter-Miland coach Simone Inzaghi on Tuesday, is not to be released from Como.
Report: Trainer Blessin canceled Wolfsburg and Leipzig
Coach Blessin from FC St. Pauli, according to information from the “Hamburger Abendblatt”, has given the Bundesliga competitor from Wolfsburg and Leipzig a cancellation. After the 52-year-old was mentioned as a candidate at both clubs after a successful first year at the club from the Hamburg center, the Swabian was able to calm the fans from the Millerntor a little in advance when he posted a vacation photo of St. Pauli’s jersey of the coming season on Instagram. This was rated as a clear statement on whereabouts, although without further statement by the trainer about his wardrobe.
According to the report, the former youth coach of RB Leipzig would like to continue his work at the Kiezklub. “It’s no secret that I feel good here,” said Blessin after relegation in the Bundesliga.
