Laura Wontorra is one of the most famous German sports moderators. But her career start was not always easy due to her well -known father.
For many, she was primarily the daughter of Jörg Wontorra for many. Today Laura Wontorra is an integral part of the German TV sports landscape-and on his own. In an interview with the “Welt”, the 35-year-old looks back on her career path and speaks openly about challenges, demands and waiver.
“Of course it was not always easy at the beginning, so it was often said: ‘Oh, the daughter of …’,” recalls Wontorra. Her father left big footsteps, she says – for her it was not just a burden, but above all a drive. Your goal was to go her own way. Today she is happy to be perceived as Laura Wontorra – not only as the daughter of her well -known father.
She emphasizes that this was not a sure -fire success. The moderator talks about the lots of work behind the scenes – and the price she pays for it. The largest construction site in her life is the work-life balance, she says. “My claim is to be good. And I also practice foregone.” Just like many top athletes who would also have to make victims for their success, she emphasized. It is very lucky for her that she has been able to make her professional path freely – one that she had worked hard.
Especially in front of the camera, Wontorra leaves nothing to chance: “My claim to me as a sports journalist is to prepare everything I need for a program.” Although they supported their management and other professionals in certain areas – for example in social media – but in terms of content they are responsible.
With her professionalism, Wontorra has made a name for herself – even beyond DAZN. Nevertheless, she remains true to the streaming service: she has extended her contract and will also moderate the Bundesliga conference on Saturday in addition to the Champions League.
Last but not least, she attributes the fact that she has asserted herself in the industry to clear principles: “We are only part of a system in which certain parameters have to fit,” explains Wontorra with a view of the market of TV moderators. It is about contacts, offers, quality – and your own gut feeling. If you are good, you will be interested.
