The British government threatens the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich because of the use of the billions from the sale of the football club FC Chelsea with a lawsuit.

As British media unanimously report, £ 2.5 billion (around three billion euros) has not reached the Ukraine attacked by Russia as required at the conclusion of the 2022 deal.

The door for negotiations is still open, finance minister Rachel Reeves and Foreign Minister David Lammy said in a joint explanation according to BBC and Sky. However, the government is ready to enforce the agreement in court. At first there was no statement from the Abramowitsch environment.

Abramovich one of the first to put billions in a club

Three years ago, the billions from the sale did not go to the Russians sanctioned by the government and the EU, the close proximity to Russian President Vladimir Putin, but were frozen.

That was the prerequisite for the approval of the sale. Legally, however, the money continues to belong to Abramowitsch. According to the media reports, he wants to benefit from all victims of the war through a foundation, including Russian.

Abramovich, who had made billions with oil and gas, had taken over FC Chelsea in 2003 and continuously put enormous sums of money into the club. After the Russian attack on Ukraine, Abramovich was placed on the British and the EU sanction list and was forced to sell the club. The new owners come from the USA.
