Jonathan Anderson takes over the entire creative direction at Dior.
The Northern Irish designer is responsible for the collections for women, men and haute couture, the French fashion house announced on Monday. Anderson is the first designer after the founder Christian Dior, who is responsible for all of these areas. On June 27, he will show his first collection for Dior Men during the fashion week in Paris.
“It is a great honor to join the Dior Haus as creative director for women’s and men’s collections,” said Anderson. “I have always been inspired by the rich history of this house, its depth and empathy. I look forward to working with the legendary studios to create the next chapter of this incredible story.”
Anderson takes over for Chiuri
It has long been speculated whether Anderson could take on this role. After he was appointed the new Menswear boss in mid-April and then the farewell to Maria Grazia Chiuri, previously artistic director of the fashion house, was officially announced at the end of last week.
“I have followed his career with great interest since he came to the LVMH group over ten years ago,” said Dior CEO Delphine Arnault. “I am convinced that he will give our house a creative and modern vision, inspired by the fabulous story of Monsieur Dior and the codes he created. He is supported by our teams and our outstanding studios, who will bring his creativity to life.”
Anderson comes from Loewe to Dior. At the Spanish fashion house, which like Dior belongs to the French luxury goods group LVMH, he had the role of the chief designer elevator years.
