On an industrial estate in Ter Apelkanaal, a blazing fire rages into a large building of a company where proteins are processed. The Groningen Safety Region reports that the shed on the Handelsweg is completely on fire and is considered lost.
Two silos next to the shed are threatened by the fire, so that the fire brigade had to withdraw as a precaution. The safety region reports that it is not clear what the response of the fire to the silos will be.
At 4.19 am an NL-Alert was issued for the fire, because a lot of smoke is released that can linger low. Local residents who suffer from the smoke are requested to close windows and doors and eliminate ventilation systems.
It is unclear what the fire caused and whether there were injuries. The Drenthe fire brigade was called in, among other things, to combat fire.
