Although not everyone adhered to those rules this afternoon, according to the municipality that did not lead to incidents “There were some torches and there was some fireworks, but that remained under control,” says spokesperson Kiewiet. “You can’t check seven thousand to eight thousand people per person either.”
No arrests
No arrests were made at the party on the square in front of the town hall, a police spokesperson said. “We are very happy. It was a super fun party,” said the spokesperson.
The police report that there was one incident on the square. A piece of fireworks were found that had not gone off. As a precaution, the area was briefly closed off. The fireworks were then taken and exploded elsewhere.
Little time to recover
The spokesperson for the municipality says that the joy at the town hall is great after the promotion of Telstar to the Eredivisie. “They have earned this so much. A large part of us is a fan and supporter. They are our white lions and we are proud of that.”
The Eredivisie starts again in thirteen weeks and that means that there is little time for Telstar to recover from the historical promotion: the turf must be replaced. The promotion also means a lot for the municipality of Velsen. “We are going to work hard in the coming period to ensure that everything that comes with the promotion is to arrange as a municipality,” says Kiewiet.
According to the spokesperson, that is easy to do despite the short time. “As we do in IJmuiden: we pour our sleeves after a party and continue.”
