Chess superstar loses and gets outbreak

At a tournament in Norway, the signs for Magnus Carlsen are on victory. Then he still gives the game here – and lets his anger run free.
Super-superstar Magnus Carlsen caused a stir in his Norwegian homeland at the “Norway Chess” invitation tournament. The 34-year-old played a game against the reigning world champion Dommaraju Gukesh. The two grand masters dueled a total of four hours – and for a long time it looked for Carlsen after a win.
But Carlsen suddenly made serious mistakes and in the end had to admit his defeat. As a result, the five -time world champion let his anger run free. He hit his fist onto the table in anger – with such a force that even some of the characters reached. After giving Gukesh briefly to admit his defeat, Carlsen got up and called “Oh my god”. Immediately afterwards, however, he apologized for his outburst of anger with his opponent.
On the other side of the chess board, Gukesh could hardly believe what had just happened. For the only 19-year-old Indian, it was his first victory in a classic chess duel against Carlsen. He enjoyed his victory in silence, just wandered a little and held his hand in front of his mouth.
Later, Carlsen also presented himself stunned about the awarded victory: “I don’t know what happened,” he said. Gukesh was also surprised: “I would have lost in 99 out of 100 cases,” he analyzed. “There was not much that I could have done. I was clearly lost. So I just tried to play trains that would somehow complicate the matter for him,” continued Gukesh. Successfully.
In the meantime, however, nothing has been lost for Carlsen. He continues to lead the rating at the tournament, and only has to share the lead with 9.5 points with the American Fabiano Caruna. Gukesh took third place with 8.5 points.
