Max Verstappen in Spain has experienced a bitter damper in the fight for the World Cup title. But not only that, the Dutch feels the consequences of a serious error.
The Grand Prix of Spain became a nightmare for Max Verstappen. Lost points in the World Cup ranking, penalty points that probably make a racing lock-and trouble in your own team. The ram attack against George Russell in the Mercedes has serious consequences for the Dutch. The international press criticizes the world champion:
“As”: “Red Bull misses the goal and fails. (…) The Dutchman, who does not always make the right decisions in the heat of the battle, did the rest with an ugly defense against Russell and a touch with the Mercedes, which brought him a ten-second penalty and exchanged a fifth place on the route for a tenth.”
“El País”: “Piatri wins without batting the Grand Prix of Spain with the eyelash, while Verstappen is pouting in Montmeló. The Australian gets his fifth win of the season on the circuit and in the Dutchman comes out the dirty version he seemed to have left behind.”
“Mundo Deportivo”: “Many are afraid when Max (Verstappen )’s car appears behind them. Just like in the golden times of (Michael) Schumacher. But (Oscar) Piatri, who saw the blue spot of the RB21 in his rear -view mirror, did not even shrink.”
“Sport”: “Cruel exit for Max Verstappen. (…) Max, who went out in his garage, got into a chaos, fought with Leclerc and Russell and received a ten-second penalty that thrown him back to tenth place.”
Netherlands
“Ad”: “Anger Max Verstappen gets punishment for bloody GP Spain: frustration spreads to the Dutch. Barcelona should be the race of truth for Max Verstappen, and this truth was tough.”
“De Telegraaf”: “For Max Verstappen, the race in Barcelona ended with a large fiasco. He fell back to fifth place, deliberately drove in George Russell (Mercedes) and was then occupied with a ten-second time penalty.”
“Daily Mail”: “Max Verstappen was documented with a ten-second time penalty after colliding with George Russell in the dramatic last rounds of the Grand Prize of Spain-and so that the tensions between two of the toughest rivals in Formula 1 had rekindled.”
“Guardian”: “Oscar Piatri won the Grand Prize of Spain with a dominant journey at the top of the field on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and secured the victory in front of his McLaren teammate Lando Norris. The race was characterized by a late, impetuous outbreak of Max Verstappen, which the defending champion of Red Bull is on the top cost. “
“Mirror”: “Verstappen was already in a bad mood after his strategy had been ruined by a late safety car. (….) While most of them switched to the soft tires in front, Verstappen had only one set of the harder, slower mixture. He was able to say out of every chance to challenge the McLaren cars before it. Racing engineer advised him to give up the place on the Mercedes. “
“Small newspaper”: “Piatri wins Grand Prix from Barcelona, Verstappen out of the edge and band.”
“Kronen Zeitung”: “McLaren celebrates double victory, Verstappen burned.”
“Salzburger Nachrichten”: “Max Verstappen ensures scandal.”
“View”: “Verstappen pissed off. What a tire show with a thousand dramas – and the race over 66 rounds started practically after 54 laps.”
