Jasmine Paolini strikes the match gain in Paris – and yet excretes. Because a Ukrainian once again shows her big fighter heart.

Jelina Switolina has reached the quarter -finals at the French Open with an impressive catch -up. The Ukrainian prevailed in an emotional duel against previous year’s finalist Jasmine Paolini – even though she was already on the verge of defeat in the second set.

Switolina fought back into the game after a lost first set and three defended match balls and finally won 4: 6, 7: 6 (8: 6), 6: 1. The 30-year-old once again showed her tireless commitment, which was rewarded by the audience on the Court Suzanne Lenglen with a lot of applause.

The fans in Paris are traditionally behind Switolina – also because of their relationship with the French professional Gaël Monfils.

For Paolini, the tournament ended in the round of 16. The 29-year-old Italian had played to the final last year, but had failed because of Iga świątek. This year she traveled with a lot of confidence-most recently, she won the WTA tournament in Rome.
