The lower figures are due to a combination of factors. In 2024 Ascension Value coincided with the end of the May holiday in Wallonia, which then caused extra domestic tourism. That effect was missing this year.
The weather also did not play in favor of the coast: the expected sunny Ascension Weekend was disappointing, and that led to fewer lastminute bookings. Many second lasts stayed at home.
