The Christopher Street Day will take place for the second time on Saturday (May 31st) in Rheinsberg in Brandenburg – and this time with prominent musical support. The Chemnitz of Kraftklub and the Canadian band The Hidden Cameras appear at the CSD event. The Austrian band Lovehead is also included.
Power club at the CSD
The fact that the power club plays at the CSD in Rheinsberg fits the band’s keeping, which has always been loud, clear and unmistakably stand against right -wing agitation, transthobia and exclusion. In addition, the event falls into an exciting phase for the band: they recently announced a new album. It will be the first since Kargo from 2022.
CSD organizers also want to set a clear signal against increasing right-wing extremism with the event, which can also be felt in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district. Rheinsberg had experienced its very first CSD in spring 2024. At that time, several hundred people took to the streets. The region is considered a challenging plaster for queer people and refugees. According to the organizers, incidents of rejection and hate are not uncommon. “Let us show a face together for a tolerant, cosmopolitan and, above all, diverse society, in which origin, gender and appearance is irrelevant and you can love who you want. We are all the same!” rbb.
This year’s CSD begins with a demonstration train through the city center, followed by a rally with live music and speeches. Among other things, Martin Sonneborn, a member of the Satir party, will give the party a speech. The police accompany the event with a security concept – but does not expect riots.
First traces for your new power club album
On Monday (May 26th) a fluorescent sign with the inscription “Die in Karl-Marx-Stadt” appeared in Chemnitz. At first there was no sender or any kind of explanation. At the beginning of the week, the lettering was still on a crane over the town hall in Chemnitz. A countdown was also attached under the inscription, which ran on Wednesday evening (May 28th) at 9:15 p.m. Kraftklub then dissolved the riddle on Instagram: it is the title of the new album. An accompanying tour is also planned and the first dates are already sold out.
