The next departure after coach Xabi Alonso and central defender Jonathan Tah is certain: Jeremie Frimpong changes from Leverkusen to Liverpool.

According to Bayer, Frimpong uses an exit clause in his contract dated until 2028. According to media reports, this is said to be around 35 million euros. “This transfer can and will also shape the Leverkusen squad of the future,” said Bayer’s sports director Simon Rolfes.

Frimpong replaces Alexander Arnold

The Dutch international signed a “long -term” contract with the English champions. At the Reds, Frimpong is said to replace Alexander-Arnold, who changes to Real Madrid.

The decision was “a child’s play”

“It was very easy. Liverpool reported and showed interest, and for me the decision was of course a breeze,” the 24-year-old Frimpong was quoted in the message.

Frimpong came to the Werkself from Celtic Glasgow during the winter break of the 2020/21 season. Frimpong played 190 games for Leverkusen, scored 30 times and prepared 44 more goals. The 24-year-old rail player is known for his speed and his offensive urge. As a regular player, he was instrumental in the Double win in the 2023/24 season.

Leverkusen sale continues

After coach Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid) and Jonathan Tah (Bayern Munich) had already announced their departure, Frimpong is the next top performer. The future of exceptional skiers Florian Wirtz at Werkelf is also uncertain. The LFC is apparently negotiating with Leverkusen about a transfer of the international, according to the British media, the Reds recently made an improved offer of around 130 million euros.
