Can Il Torito get the Giro?
Almost three neutralized kilometers remain. After in addition to top favorite Primož Roglič yesterday, fellow favorite Juan Ayuso also had to give up the Giro due to a swollen eye in the course of a bee sting, not least of the Maglia Rosa because of all the eyes are directed towards the Mexican cyclist Isaac del Toro.

Neutralized start
The neutralized start has just been done. It is almost six kilometers to roll up in the inner city until the sharp start is due and the final towards the beautiful Aostatal is going.

Review of yesterday’s stage
Yesterday’s 18th stage became a festive day for the German team Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe. Nico Denz attacked shortly after the start and set up the decisive solorian 17 kilometers before the finish. He crossed the finish line in Cesano Moderno with a concentrated fist, his third stage victory at the Giro d’Italia.

Animal stage
Alberto Contador, double Giro winner, described the stage as “animal hard” and sees the ideal moment for an attack on the last climb to Antagnod: “Although only classified as a second category, it is hard-especially in the last part. After what the drivers have experienced until then, this could be the perfect moment to put crucial.”

FavoriteCheck II: Pellizzarri
Bergziege Georg Steinhauser from EF Education-Easypost racing team will now have to be fully served by Carapaz, which is why a stage victory is unlikely. However, Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) is not allowed to be neglected. The young Italian is in impressive form and is now traded as one of the potential stage winners. His team, strengthened by yesterday’s day’s victory by Nico Denz, drives today without the great pressure and is likely to concentrate fully on Pellizzari. With only five minutes behind del Toro, however, he is dangerously close to the GC, which will not guarantee him free trip. If a strong group forms, Pellizzari is the man to observe.

Favorite check: GC driver
At the favorite check, there is no way around the overall classification drivers. The 19th stage marks the prelude to the decisive weekend and it is about seconds. The Mexican Isaac del Toro continues to carry the Maglia Rosa, but his lead of only 41 seconds on Richard Carapaz and 51 seconds on Simon Yates is anything but calming on this high mountain stage. So far, “Il Torito” has been incredibly strong, but today and tomorrow it is important to prove that he has the nerves and, above all, legs of a real tour champions.

The route: barely a meter flat
After the start in Biella, it starts comparatively human. The first increase in the 3rd category offers typical terrain for early attacks. This is followed by an approximately 25 kilometer flat section, the last of its kind for the rest of the day. Then there is a triumvirate from Category 1. Col Tzecore, Col Saint-Pantaléon and Col de Joux. Anyone who lets them off here will hardly manage to get back into the race. The stage is peppered with ramps. Finally, the climb to Antagnod, officially only a 2nd category, but with a length of 9.5 kilometers and an average of 5%incline in combination with steep ramps is anything but a walk. The decision should be made here.

Buongiorno and welcome!
The Giro d’Italia 2025 turns on the home straight. The 19th stage from Biella to Champoluc not only leads through the scenic spectacular Aosta Valley, but with its 4950 meters of altitude is also officially distributed over this year’s tour of this year’s tour over just 166 kilometers. Five categorized climbs, three of them in the highest category in direct sequence, promise an insane climbing duel and could reduce the Maglia Rosa again before the round of honor in Rome follows on Sunday. The neutralized start is scheduled for 12:20.
