For Borussia Mönchengladbach’s captain Jonas Omlin, the Bundesliga game in mid-May could have been the last in the foal jersey. This emerges from a recent media report.

Gladbach goalkeeper Jonas Omlin is now planning the “departure”, as “Bild” reports on Thursday. The advisors of the 31-year-old are already probing the market to explore a farewell.

One of the main reasons for this should be the lack of view of the clear regular place at Borussia. Jonas Omlin suffered a calf injury last autumn, but after his return, head coach Gerardo Seoane made the previous deputy Moritz Nicolas the new number one.

Only when the 27-year-old injured himself in the spring did Omlin move back to the starting eleven. According to Seoane, only new season has not yet been decided who should be guarding the goal. Nicolas should have the best cards according to “Bild”.

Jonas Omlin often injured in Gladbach

Due to the uncertain perspective at the foals, Omlin is now looking for a first division club, in which he can act as a regular again. “Sport Bild” had recently reported that those responsible for Gladbach also think about an early farewell to the goalkeeper.

The four -time Swiss international was hired in January 2023 by the French club Montpellier as the successor to Yann Sommer. At that time, Gladbach paid out nine million euros, Omlin was equipped with a contract until summer 2027.

Since moving to the Lower Rhine, the goalkeeper had repeatedly struggled with injuries. After 15 games in the second half of the 2022/23 season, he only came up with seven Bundesliga games the following year due to a serious shoulder injury. In the past season it was only twelve.
