Werder Bremen is currently driving the obligation of Horst Steffen intensively. Now the coach and club are said to have taken the next step. The green-whites have to agree with SV Elversberg.
A few days ago, Ole Werner at Werder Bremen burst the bomb by not wanting to extend. The green-whites then reacted and released their trainer. In the meantime, a successor seems to have been found for Werner, according to agreed reports, Horst Steffen is supposed to take over the fortunes at the Weser club.
At the beginning of the week, Steffen and the Bremeners should have already agreed, according to various media reports, only details were missing between the two parties. Now “Sky” and “Deichstube” report that the desired trainer and the SVW managers have found an agreement in all points.
As expected, Steffen will sign until 2028 as soon as all transfer modalities have been clarified with SV Elversberg. With Elversberg, the 56-year-old had recently just missed the promotion to the Bundesliga in the relegation.
As a transfer, a sum is due in the lower six -figure area, “Sky” writes of around 350,000 euros. According to the “FussballTransfers.com” portal, Steffen has an exit clause that is said to be 200,000 euros.
Either way: Steffen Dingproof is to be made and announced this week.
Werder Bremen says Trio
Steffen is said to have been the top candidate for a long time when it came to securing himself if Werner should not extend his contract that expires in the summer of 2026.
Now that the case actually occurred, sports director Clemens Fritz is said to have been in contact with the native Krefeld and have now made nails with heads.
According to the “Deichstube” information, other candidates such as Danny Röhl (Sheffield Wednesday), Lukas Kwasniok (SC Paderborn) or Marco Rose (most recently RB Leipzig) were spoken, but the green-whites were committed to Steffen early. The coaches mentioned have therefore been informed that they were out of the question.
