The future of Jonathan Tah was open for a long time, now it is finally clarified. The 29 -year -old central defender signed a contract at FC Bayern until 2029 and – unlike previously reported – comes free of charge from Bayer Leverkusen. This was confirmed by the record champions. It did not show whether Tah can still play at the club World Cup for the Munich team.
Tah changed from HSV to Bayer 04 for 9.5 million euros in 2015 and has since completed 402 games – only five players often wore the Werkelf jersey. Last summer, Bayern already showed a lot of interest in the Hamburg native, but Leverkusen blocked a transfer. Tah decided that he would not extend his contract, and from then on IMer was again associated with FC Barcelona.
“I am very happy to be at Bayern. I want to take responsibility here and work hard every day so that we as a team are successful and win many titles together,” said Tah. With a market value of 30 million euros, it is one of the most valuable players at the end of the contract 2025. According to Tom Bishop, he is the second new addition to the coming season. From 2001 to 2004, FC Bayern regularly served in Leverkusen – but since then Tah has been the first access of Bayer. At that time, Michael Ballack, Robert Kovac, Zé Roberto and Lúcio were drawn to the Isar.
“It is no secret that we have had Jonathan Tah on the radar for a long time. We appreciate his class: he is a guy who takes responsibility. Jonathan had many offers, but he chose FC Bayern. We are very happy,” said sports director Max Eberl. Sports director Christoph Freund added: “With Jonathan Tah, we have committed a player with international experience and quality who will not need a long start -up time to become a fixture in our defense. He will do us well and become an important reinforcement with his football skills and in his way as he is going.”
After the departure from Eric dier to AS Monaco, there was a need for action in central defense at Bayern. In addition to the set dayot upamecano, Min-Jae Kim in particular showed fluctuating performance in the end of the season, Hiroki ito broke the midfoot again. While Kim is currently struggling with Achilles tendon problems, Upamecano puts a knee injury out of action.
