“What do you get up for in the morning?” – Entry with real impulses

It started at 10 a.m. in the TH Lübeck constructionorum – with motivating words from the university. The course management introduced themselves briefly and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jochen Abke, Vice President Studies and Digitization, encouraged those interested in study: You are in the right place here. Find out more – you will be needed out there! He gave the students an important question before going to the individual actions: “What do you stand up for in the morning?” – an invitation to discover your own strengths and goals. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jochen Abke emphasized how important a family atmosphere is studying: You are right here if you enjoy life. Many guests quickly realized: This is not an anonymous lecture hall. This is a university at eye level. After this motivating greeting, the pupils made their way into the laboratories, workshops and lecture halls to practically explore the numerous offered stations of the departments and courses.

Sustainable building: The focus on people

In the Department of construction Everything turns around Sustainable building technology – a topic that is not only technically exciting, but also socially relevant. In the NGSPACE, a specially designed learning laboratory, the students were able to experience, for example, how buildings are planned in such a way that they consume as little energy as possible – with smart technology, renewable energies and innovative building materials. Heat pumps, underfloor heating, sensors and photovoltaics – not only explained here, but also shown, tried and asked. Prof. Christian Blatt gives on the way: You don’t have to be perfect in math – you learn that in a practical way. Interest is sufficient at the beginning. And a student added: Here we understand how to use technology sensibly for a sustainable future – and can get started directly.

“Taste the World”: Ice production as a study project

With “Taste the World” in the department Applied natural sciences The sense of taste was particularly addressed. This was all about innovative food – manufactured and presented by students from the industrial engineering course. If you wanted, you could test smell samples, take a look at the laboratory and end up try new ice cream types – including “Porridge Ice” and “Dubai Dream”. The students had baked the waffles themselves. Dipl.-Ing. Annette Leonards explained what was really about studying: We look closely at what our students are interested in – and together develop projects. That can also be a vegan currywurst. Studies are rare in this way.

Ki and cyberpunk: Future to touch in the open AI laboratory

In the Department of electrical engineering and computer science the open AI laboratory was a workshop of the possibilities. Here it was shown how artificial intelligence already works – and how to develop them sensibly. Visitors were able to generate their own pictures with AI or let the robot dog Maddie lead them through the laboratory. Particularly exciting: The “Infinite You” project with Prof. Niklas Beuter, in which guests were able to visualize themselves as cyberpunk-avatar-and also came into thinking about ethical questions from AI, Deepfkes and digital identity. Interested people not only learned what is technically possible here – but also why responsibility and creativity are important.

Technology up close: workshop, materials and an escape room

It was hand -resistant in Mechanical engineering and business department: Test components, test materials – and crack a technical puzzle in the escape room. Everything was designed in such a way that the participants were able to participate themselves and ask questions. In addition, the racing team of the TH Lübeck presented themselves, the Seagulls that showed their self -made vehicles – a prime example of project -based work during their studies. Here it became clear that mechanical engineering is not only theory, but also screws, thinking, teamwork – and lots of creativity. The special thing about here: all departments and courses can participate and are needed.

Exchange, questions, real conversations

There was time for the most important between the stations. Real conversations! Whether with teachers, students or other guests – the campus day was full of encounters. What everyone emphasized: Studying at the TH Lübeck called not to be left alone. Small groups, close support, many options and numerous cooperation with companies and organizations make it possible to develop your own profile. The courses are practical, many projects take up real questions – and often very specific ideas for the future arise.

Apply now – and start from autumn
