“You can give an opinion about crop protection agents that are scientifically substantiated. But now a lot is being called, sickness texts, anonymous actions. Then we feel threatened as an agricultural Westerveld and we want to make a statement against that,” Moes explains.
The protest of the farmers declined at 8 p.m., immediately afterwards the opponents took over with a quiet protest. But that transition did not exactly go smoothly, because it took some time before the tractor procession was away from the town hall.
“I am not against the tractors,” says Rieuwert de Haan of Gif -Vrij Westerveld. “Those farmers have the right to protest here. The whole point is that I don’t want to see balls here. Bulbs are about poison, farmers are not about poison. We all have to take care of people’s health, people’s food.”
