The fire on the houseboat on the Laan der Vrijheid in Zaandam broke out tonight around ten to half past eight. The fire brigade pulled out with several vehicles to extinguish the fire. Shortly after nine o’clock the safety region announced that the fire was off.
Crime scene
A person died in the fire on the houseboat. The police do not want to say whether it is about the resident of the houseboat. A spokesperson for the Security Region speaks of a “fatal outcome”.
According to the police, the place is now a crime scene. Whether the fire is possible is not clear. The police are investigating the origin of the fire and the cause of death of the victim.
Damage to the houseboat is large
A large part of the houseboat was damaged by the fire. A spokesperson for the Security Region says it is a houseboat of about eight meters long. The roof of the boat is partially related due to the fire.
