Darts sport loses one of its most famous faces: As the long-time Caller George Noble officially announced on Sunday, he will end his career at the end of the current season and retire.
As Noble revealed in conversation with the broadcaster “Viaplay” on Sunday, the Darts season 2025 will be its last one. The Brit, which is only called “The Puppy” by everyone, thus saying goodbye to the big stage after more than 35 years. He started his career as a caller in 1990 at British Darts Organization (BDO).
The last time will be on stage at the World Championship in Ally Pally. It is quite possible that the final would become its farewell game in early January. It was also “The Voice” Bray in 2024, for which the World Cup was also the last big tournament as a caller.
German successor for darts cult callers?
Noble has been the first team of PDC referees for over two decades and was on stage at all important tournaments during this period. Anyone who has come to the referee team of the Professional Darts Corporation for him is not yet officially determined. However, there are also two German callers in conversation for the square.
Franz Engerer and Lucas Mirbach have already gained experience on stage at the European Tour in recent years and belong to the caller pool that is suitable for an increase.
In the “Viaplay” interview, noble himself spoke out for the fact that his position goes to a caller that does not come from the island. At the same time, he emphasized that time was also ripe for a referee. It is not known whether the world association also thinks.
