Coulibaly’s goal gives his third salvation in a row in A. The biancocelesti end in 10 for the expulsion of Romagnoli
Lecce is saved, Instead for Lazio. At the Olimpico, the Giallorossi, 10 from the end of the first half for the expulsion of Pierotti, win 1-0 with goals by Coulibaly (at 43 ‘, is his first in the season). For Lotito’s team, which ends the championship with just 7 internal wins (it was not worse since 2009-10), it is also found outside Europe for the first time since 2015-16. Lazio, climbed over in the standings also by Fiorentina, is seventh, too little to qualify for the cups. Different figures will thus be questioned between technical staff and players. Lecce, on the other hand, will play for the first time in Serie A for four years in a row.
The race
–
Lecce, deployed with 4-2-3-1 with Karlsson, Berisha and Pierotti behind Krstovic, begins the game showing themselves bold and also creating some scratchers in the biancoceleste defense. However, the occasions are few: Mandas is attentive to Gallo in 23 ‘, otherwise the race is very tactical. The Lazio of Baroni (disqualified and therefore in the stands) seems to have his legs packed. Not even the initial advantage of Venice on Juve (who then won his game), which would allow Zaccagni and his companions to climb the ranking, seems to transmit energy. And so the game remains harnessed, with a few ideas and, consequently, emotions. In the final minutes of the first half, however, the race lights up: first Castellanos and then Gila forgive the ball, Krstovic then manages to serve Coulibaly who gets rid of Guendouzi and beats Mandas. Lazio reacts and touches the draw in the 45th minute, but on the header of Castellanos, Falcone is attentive. A few seconds after Lecce remains in 10 for the second yellow of Pierotti (Falesi on Rovella first and Nuno Tavares then), and therefore we go with the Giallorossi ahead of a goal and the biancocelesti above a man.
The recovery
–
Lazio reappears in the second half with Pedro and Hysaj instead of Isaksen and Marusic, takes the field, but still struggles to create opportunities. Lecce defends low, the spaces are few and the biancocelesti struggle to find them. Pedro plays the charge with a series of shots, but Falcone does not be surprised by him, nor by Guandouzi. The hosts continue to press, at 60 ‘they touch the tie on the corner first with Pedro and then with Rovella, but the Lecce defense continues to make wall. At 65 ‘not even Castellanos, on Cross by Nuno Tavares, manages, head, to beat Falcone. Halfway through the second half Lazio resumes breath, the only one who does not lower the rhythms is Pedro, who in the 72nd minute, from the edge, is missing the door of only a few centimeters. The biancocelesti also try with Gila, who kicks from the distance, but the most dangerous is still Pedro, who forces Falcone again to the parade both at 79 ‘and in the 81st minute. In the final minutes, Romagnoli also expelled, who put his hands on the assistant. He will serve the disqualification in the next championship. Who knows if with Lazio …
