“Having a child may not only be reserved for those who can pay an au pair”: Sammy Mahdi wants everyone to choose to have (more) children

Six in ten young Belgians want children, but do not see how they will ever be combined with their job. Four in ten therefore even doubt about their desire to have children. These shocking figures sound CD&V to the alarm. “I don’t preach like a priest:” Go and multiply you, “but the government must make it possible for people who want to just start children,” says chairman Sammy Mahdi (CD&V). “Having children may not be reserved for people who can pay an au pair.”
