Before the final appearance of the long -standing German national player, it was unclear whether he would play from the start. Now the decision has been determined.
The last game of the AS Roma 2024/25 is not only the end of the year for the Italian capital club, it is also the last game of the long and successful career of ex-international Mats Hummels.
The 2014 world champion ends his career at the end of this season. The 36-year-old had already announced this in early April (read more about this here). The question before the game on Sunday evening at Torino (from 8:45 p.m. in the live ticker at T-Online) was only: does Roma trainer Claudio Ranieri put the defender from the start to guarantee him a worthy farewell? Now the starting line -up is certain: Hummels is only on the bench at the start of the game.
It is the seventh league game in a row in which the central defender must first watch.
Hummels came to the “Giallorossi” in September 2024, but could not fight for a regular place at the traditional club. In the course of the season he came to a total of 19 competitive games, scoring a goal for the Roma.
