Various complaints have been submitted to Royal FloraHolland, the largest flower and plant auction in the world with a branch in Eelde, to the Supervisor Authority for Consumer & Market (ACM).

The complainants accuse the cooperative of being abused of its dominant position, according to various complaints by the Financieel Dagblad have been recognized. The company would exclude competition, so that Dutch growers are bound by hands and feet to the auction.

Payment company Agri Inter Incasso (AI2), which works for more than a thousand customers in floriculture, reported possible structural abuse of power by the auction company in April. Growers, who are almost all members of FloraHolland, are, according to that complaint, obliged to pay their decorative growing products through FloraHolland.

If a grower nevertheless settles with alternative payment systems without permission, the auction will impose a fine up to 2.52 percent on that turnover. In addition, according to the AI2 complaint, an additional levy of 2 percent can be added if the grower outside FloraHolland does not indicate well. To check that, according to the payment company, FloraHolland requires full access to the turnover figures of breeders that are members.
