Will it be an Albert Heijn, a plus or a Nettorama? Village chairman Gerard Gustin van Emmer-Compascuum says that those chains are in the picture to open a new supermarket in the village. According to Gustin, there are conversations about location on the Oosterdiep Westzijde.

The village chair says that the conversations with Albert Heijn were in an advanced stage, but now the Plus and Nettorama are also in the race. The Albert Heijn would like to settle in the former Aldi location on Rademakerstraat. But in the end that did not take place, although the interest in the village is still there, says the chairman.

There is already a Boni supermarket in the village. This chain was taken over by Nettorama in 2023. More than five years ago, the village administration still argued for a relocation of the current Boni on the Runde Noordzijde to a more spacious place in the Dorpshart. Because according to Gustin, the jacket began to pinch for the super in the current location. In the end it did not come to a move.

Although it is not yet clear which supermarket it will be, the location is known. It concerns two homes on the Oosterdiep Westzijde 6 and 7, near the center area. Behind it is a huge parking lot. All together good for 4,000 square meters. Gustin is the owner of the real estate and had plans for new construction here in the past.

Now it must be the place for the new supermarket of approximately 1,200 square meters. The two houses and underlying buildings will have to be demolished. The parking lot (used in the past by a taxi company) can be used by supermarket customers.

De Plus says that the chain is indeed orientation in this area, but makes no further statements. The Nettorama does not want to say anything about specific locations. The Albert Heijn says he has no plans to open a store in Emmer-Compascuum. Gustin is in any case convinced that it will come around with one of the three. “It’s going on anyway.”
