On such top days, especially in coastal municipalities with train stations, a mass of people flows. Himpe points out that some mayors doubt whether extra trains are a good idea. Governor Decaluwé argues for more consultation with the Flemish Traffic Center and the NMBS, but complains that proposals at the railway company “fall in Dovemansoren.”
Decaluwé also wants to bring the existing pressure barometer to the attention. It shows real -time how busy it is on the coast. “No mandatory spread, but good information. Just like a pressure meter at stores,” says Himpe.
“Not all roads lead to Rome, but apparently do go to the coast when a day off and nice weather come together,” the provincial councilor concludes.
