Lauf-Ass Konstanze Klosterhalfen has improved the German record over 10 kilometers on the street.
The Leverkusen woman won the traditional “Villa de Laredo” race in 30:46 minutes on Saturday and thus undercut the previous national record of Melat Kejeta, which had existed since October 2020.
In the previous year, Klosterhalfen had already won the race in the Spanish coastal city. At that time she had set up a personal best with 31:07 minutes. This time she was traveling much faster – she completed the first half of the race in 15:22 minutes, in the second section she kept the pace almost constant.
With her time, Klosterhalfen was not only faster than ever on the street, but also faster than on the track. There, the 5000 m European champion from 2022 also holds the German record over 10,000 meters with 31: 01.71 minutes. The appearance in northern Spain was the first start of the season for Klosterhalfen, who missed the European Championship and Olympics due to an illness in 2024. In winter she had lifted your silver at the Cross-European Championship.
