“Bohemian Rhapsody” has become a triumph as a biopic about Queen and Freddie Mercury, there were numerous film prices, including Oscars and the box office result that has been the case in this genre so far.

Nevertheless, it is striking that there are several false temporal assignments in the film and simple, annoying mistakes. The US colleagues of the Rolling Stone lists open everything that is wrong-we complement important aspects.

Facts check: All embarrassing mistakes in the Queen film “Bohemian Rhapsody”

1. The foundation of the band was not as easy as shown

Queen 1977

In “Bohemian Rhapsody” Freddie Mercury accidentally got into a concert by the band Smile by Brian May and Roger Taylor. Immediately after the show he runs to you, just before, bass player and singer Tim Staffell threw the towel. Mercury convinces the two in the parking lot with an A-Capella version of “Doing Alright”.

In reality, Mercury had been friends with a relay for a long time, a big smile fan-May said that the young Freddie had besieged her several times to get into the band.

2. John Deacon was not a founding member

Queen

He was not there at the first Queen concert of 1970, but he was only the fourth bass player-and joined the group in 1971. In “Bohemian Rhapsody”, Deacon is already participating in “Keep Yourself Alive”.

“Fat Bottomed Girls” did not yet exist on the band’s first USA tour, “We Will Rock You” was not created in Freddie’s Schnauzbart-Lederlook phase, and “Another One Bites The Dust” was not in the “Hot Space” era from 1982.

4. Freddie did not meet Mary Austin that evening when he became a member of the Queen

Mary Austin

In the film, Mercury meets his future fiancee about 30 seconds before he hits the Queen members and becomes their singer.

Reality looked like this: Austin Date Brian May – and Freddie only became aware of her when he was already a front man.

5. There is no record manager Ray Foster

Mike Myers in “Bohemian Rhapsody”

Mike Myers plays the Emi man Ray Foster, who argues with Queen because of her songs “Bohemian Rhapsody”. There is no man. But he is based on EMI boss Roy Featherstone, although the band was a fan.

“Bohemian Rhapsody”, however, simply thought he was too long to be clogged as a single.

6. Freddie’s beloved Jim Hutton was not his servant

Freddie Mercury 1985, on the left Jim Hutton

In the film, Mercury gets to know his future partner Jim Hutton after his house party, he works a kind of waiter, Mercury drives him up and hells him. Nevertheless, they discover mutual sympathy. In reality, Hutton was a hairdresser who worked in the Savoy Hotel. They started talking to a night club for the first time.

7. Queen never dissolved
Freddie Mercury.

In “Bohemian Rhapsody” it looks like Freddie’s solo plans led to the dissolution of the band in 1985, which only collapsed shortly before Live Aid in July. After the “The Works” tour, all four felt burned out. Nevertheless, there was continuously published music in the discography of Queen. “The Works” in 1984 followed “A Kind of Magic” in 1986.

8. Live AID was therefore not a reunion

Already after “The Works” Queen went on extensive tour in 1984, playing new hits like “I Want to Break Free” and “Radio Ga-Ga”. The last concert before Live Aid took place just eight weeks earlier. So there was no reason to “have to play in shape”, the boys were perfectly recorded before the charity event.

9. Freddie did not learn about his HIV infection shortly before Live Aid

It is unclear when exactly Freddie Mercury learned about the diagnosis, it was likely to have been between 1986 and 1988. But not before Live Aid in July 1985. In the film, he tells May, Taylor and Deacon just before the festival concert. Depending on the source, the topic of AIDS may only come up with “Innuendo”, depending on the source, in 1991.
