Leon Goretzka has held back public statements in recent weeks. Now he was talking about his future plans for the first time.

Bayern star Leon Goretzka has long silently commented on his future plans. After setbacks in the national team and in the Bundesliga, he succeeded in a comeback. The midfielder of FC Bayern has now said that he is currently not going to change. “I’m not planning to leave the club. Why?” He said in an interview with the “Welt”.

He had played 40 games under Vincent Kompany, only four less than under Thomas Tuchel. He was very pleased that DFB coach Julian Nagelsmann again appointed him to the squad. However, it is open whether he can stay with the record champions. “My plan is definitely to play at Bayern next season,” said Goretzka, but also left it.

His contract expires in the coming year. Again and again it can be heard that Bayern want to let Goretzka go, also because he is one of the expensive players. The player would consider a new contract. “Contracts are a reward somewhere. If you were offered something, I would definitely listen to it.” He sees himself physically fit and by no means at the end of his career. He therefore did not want to rule out an assignment abroad. “But it’s not an acute topic.” This statement could also mean that there is currently no offer for the 30-year-old international.

So far, Bayern veteran Uli Hoeneß has helped him a lot in addition to his family. “I had a lot of important conversations with him. Uli Hoeneß was always there for me,” said Goretzka. The club means a lot to him. “I love FC Bayern, the people here, my teammates. We have a great bunch together”. He believes that the club can achieve even more and see itself as part of it.
