De Lijn takes the complaint seriously. On the coast there are 10 trams every day equipped with a lubrication installation that comes into effect in crucial places such as curves or points. Due to maintenance works, there are now only seven.
Spokesperson for De Lijn Frederik Wittock: “We will see at least whether the ten lubrication trams that we are now using is sufficient, and whether we should no longer do it. We also check whether we should intervene manually in several places. This is well monitored. Our people take this very serious, complaints of noise nuisance.
We do what we can and will continue to follow that very meticulously. On the other hand, there is also the extremely unusual dry weather. This contributes to the problem. If it is very dry for a long time, then the noise in places where it manifests itself is even more intense due to the friction and that indeed causes even more nuisance. “
