After the opening bankruptcy against France, the German U17 selection at the European Championship in Albania is already standing against the host on Thursday with its back to the wall. Before the second group game, however, the Youngsters of coach Marc-Patrick Meister continues to be confident.
Defender Elias Vali Fard emphasized the determination of his team in the run-up to the game (from 6 p.m. in the TM live ticker) to show his own quality on the pitch. “Of course, the defeat hurts. It is our first big tournament, we made a lot of going on, and then losing 0: 3 against France is stupid and hurts. But we just have to continue as a team,” said the defender from Borussia Mönchengladbach’s offspring. The opening bankruptcy was “well analyzed” and in the further course of the tournament “do not have to hide from the other nations.” The team “welded even more together” the negative start of the tournament.
“I believe in this team. We have proven in the European Championship qualification that we can come back after a setback like against Spain or Austria. I know the quality of our players and therefore have no concerns that we will do it together,” continued Vali Fard. For the 17-year-old, the European Championship is still a highlight of his young career: “I know that there are probably millions of boys who would like to exchange with me. Therefore, as a team of the team, I try to return the entire team as much as possible.”
