At this year’s film festival in Cannes there was an unexpected argument between Oscar awards Denzel Washington and a photographer. Washington, who came to the premiere of Spike Lee’s new film “Highest 2 Lowest”, was initially irritated, but ultimately reacted confidently to the situation.
Washington and the photographer: scandal on the red carpet
On the famous red carpet, an integral part of the festival, an incident occurred before the film premiere: While Denzel Washington talked to director Spike Lee and co-star A $ Ap Rocky, a photographer touched the actor to get his attention. Washington reacted significantly: With the index finger raised, he demanded the photographer several times with the word “Stop!” to keep a distance. When he wanted to turn away, the photographer reached for his arm again, whereupon Washington became visibly serious and again warned to restraint.

Despite the incident, the mood remained positive afterwards. Washington was awarded the honorary prize for his artistic services in the festival Palace by director Spike Lee and festival director Thierry Frémaux. “This is a total surprise for me, so I’m a little touched, but I thank you all with all my heart,” said Washington, according to the German press agency.
More about the film: Washington plays the leading role of a music mogul in “Highest 2 Lowest”. It is a reinterpretation of the Japanese crime welfare engineer “Between Heaven and Hell” by Akira Kurosawa. The work will run in the USA via AppleTV+, but also have a theatrical release. It is still unclear what it looks like for Germany.
