The World Cup will take place next year. Millions of German football fans want to follow the tournament on TV. But where will it be seen?

Football fans worldwide are already looking forward to the World Cup next year. This takes place in the USA, Mexico and Canada. According to a report by the “Bild”, Telekom has secured the rights of all games for transmission in Germany with MagentaTV.

The deal with the FIFA is to be announced on Friday. However, Telekom did not want to comment on the newspaper. It is not yet clear whether all games will also run on the Pay TV channel MagentaTV.

According to the “Bild”, it is probably possible that Telekom awards sublicens to other TV channels, as was the case at the European Home Championship last year. At that time, Telekom also bought all rights and then negotiated sublicenes with ARD and ZDF. In return, MagentaTV was also allowed to broadcast the European Championship 2021 and the 2022 World Cup, the rights of which are in public law.

If you want to pursue the games of the German national team primarily, you can breathe a sigh of relief: According to the broadcasting contract, all DFB international matches must be seen on freely receiving television. Just like the opening game, the semi -finals and the final.
