Shortly before the European Championship, DFB captain Giulia Gwinn brings out her own book. In it she explains why she thought a Bundesliga professional was a possible stalker.

In a few weeks, the German national women’s team will start their title mission at the European Championship in Switzerland. After second place at the past European Championship in England in 2022, the coveted trophy is to be achieved again this year.

Giulia Gwinn is the leader on the way to the ninth EM triumph. The full -back from FC Bayern Munich was appointed captain of the selection by national coach Christian Wück in February. A few weeks before the start of the tournament, her book “Write Your Own Story – my path from the football field to the top of the world” is published. The work that she wrote together with sports journalist Julien Wolff will be released on May 21.

The “picture” had extracts from the book a day before. There, Gwinn also reports on a first meeting with a Bundesliga professional, which she thought was a possible stalker.

The story occurred according to Gwinn’s second cruciate ligament tear. She suffered this in October 2022. After the operation, she got to know a RB Leipzig player in the clinic. The book says: “One morning a sister comes to my room and asks: ‘Ms. Gwinn, do you expect a visit?’ I shake my head.

The nurse then said that a man was looking for gwinn outside. The Bayern player’s reaction: “That sounds a bit strange. Who should that be? A fan? A stalker?” Afterwards, the nurse described him as “large, sporty and German with accent” and explained that he was also a patient in the clinic. Gwinn then briefly considered and granted permission for the visit.

“When it knocks on the door and it comes in, I recognize him immediately,” Gwinn describes the following situation. “It is Péter Gulácsi, the Hungarian national goalkeeper of RB Leipzig.” The reason for his visit: “Like me, he torn himself in October. Even on the same day,” said the 25-year-old today.

As a result, the two of them had made friends according to Gwinn. A stalker was obviously not Gulácsi after all.
