Teemu Muurimäki designed the outfit of the visa – reveal the details that are on the racing platform

The Finnish forces were behind the victorious Eurovision performance of Austria. Costume designer Teemu Muurimäki designed Austria JJ I live.

– This outfit project was born under the happy stars. Everything was super easy and fun, Muurimäki tells Iltalehti.

Muurimäki says that after seeing the first draft dress, JJ expressed he loved living. For it went. The costume was made by a Helsinki -based seamstress Elviira melel.

Muurimäki tells that JJ’s visa victory meant a lot to him.

– I’ve been making clothes for 25 years. The Satakunta Museum currently has an exhibition (Quarto di Secolo – quarter -century unique dresses), which features, for example, a wrapper Bolero and Jaana Pelkonen’s presentation, which I once designed for Eurovision, Muurimäki says and continues to consider the milestone of his career.

– During the victory, I realized that this look would remain in the history of Eurovision. Of course it is really important to me, says Muurimäki.

Muurimäki was also heavily involved in the visa presentation in Finland and Erika Vikman. Vikman’s performance outfit designed Let Sarasoja.

– I pulled the Vikman costume project. I was scheduling, getting material, involved in the arrangements, and we went through the structure of the garment technically, says Muurimäki.

Peculiar role

In the wisdom, Muurimäki made sure that the outfit was in the right way to Vikman. He was also responsible for repairs and dressing.

It is easy for Muurimäki to respond to whether or not the presentations of different countries evoke contradictory feelings.

– No. I don’t compete there with myself, but it’s a song competition. I can’t influence the success of others. Of course, I was in the Finnish delegation and encouraging Finland to victory. I did my best for Finland to do well. But of course, when I order a garment for another performer, I do my best for it, Muurimäki laughs.

– My role was exciting when I was with the Finnish delegation to make the best possible performance, but my actual artistic work is on display in Austria’s performance, says Muurimäki.

The costume designer points out that this year the visas were interesting in Finnish:

“Forbidden” materials

JJ was seen on a wisdom in the oily shiny high gloss outfit. Muurimäki describes that “Wet Look” spoke the same language as the darkest -speaking sea of ​​the performance.

An experienced designer knows what you should not combine with performance outfits.

– When it comes to singing and music, there can be nothing to do with or scream. No chains hanging on the neckline or a rustling fabric, says Muurimäki.

An unwanted sound landscape in Muurimäki is a concrete example.

– In the evening, there was a long -sleeved outfit made of Korean glitter fabric at UMK, which was like sandpaper. When the evening played the piano, the sleeves hit the side. That’s a terrible voice. A pretty thin layer of tulle was sewn into the suit, making the costume slippery, says Muurimäki.

Muurimäki also reveals the style of JJ’s outfit, which also had a functional task.

– The pants and the back of the shirt that was under the jacket were breathable wool denim. Merino wool is antibacterial. The garment cannot be properly thrown into the washing machine after every presentation. The other good thing is that the outfit was breathing from the back and feet, Muurimäki explains.

– The crickets, or metal rings, were also purely style, but of course they made holes in the garment. Even in sportswear, there are sometimes holes in the armpits of similar crickets to bring breathability.
