The future of Leroy Sané at Bayern is still unclear. The offensive player’s working paper expires in June. According to Sky, the German record champion offered the professional a salary of ten million euros and a total of 5.5 million euros in possible bonus payments, but so far Sané has not signed anything. Lothar Matthäus therefore warns the Munich with clear words.
“FC Bayern has emphasized several times that salaries have to be saved. After what they have said to the outside world, Bayern should not actually add up to Sané, otherwise they would lose their face,” says the record national player in his Sky column.
Sané, now 29 years old, is said to have already agreed with the club for an extension of the contract. Then the surprising turn followed: the offensive player changed the consultant – and there was renegotiations. According to Sky, a set ultimatum has now passed to accept the old offer. According to sports director Christoph Freund, there will be no new proposal.
Matthew criticized the procedure on both sides: A lot had “run unhappily”, he wrote. He could not assess how the communication between the player and the club went. In the past, however, commitments would have had more weight: if he had said to Franz Beckenbauer, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß that he stayed for two years, then “initially not spoken about money”.
Stefan Effenberg also wrote in his column at T-Online: “Bayern should remain tough and, as already announced, do not improve their offer. Because I do not understand where the problem is now on the part of the player.” You can read the whole column here.
